A Special Sneak Peek

...What I’ve realized in my very short, but very involved year at Zion is that there seems to be an ever-increasing desire for students to get more out of school than just an education.  I guess it shouldn’t come as any surprise that, this day and age, people are looking for that human connection, and they are looking for that connection in school.

As I’ve talked with students who have transferred in, the thing I’ve heard from both them and their parents is that they finally feel safe and accepted.  They don’t have to worry about bullying anymore, or whether or not their child’s teacher will do right by their student...
The last week of school before Christmas break can be a hectic time.  There are bulletins to prepare, programs to perfect, class and school parties to organize and execute, and, of course, a newsletter article to write.  Of course, that is on top of all of the other Christmas things we are expected to do – shopping, visiting, shopping, baking, shopping, and cleaning (for some).

This past week saw an uptick in things to do at Zion, with the addition of three different enrollment inquiries and two school tours.  Of course, while most of us are thinking of Christmas break and all the things that go along with that, there are a lot of us who are also thinking of next fall as well.

It seems to come earlier and earlier every year but, as the youngins say nowadays…”it is what it is!”  And, since it is that way, we need to plan accordingly.  We have our Sneak Peek and PK/K Round-Up scheduled for January 10th, starting at 6:30 PM (feel free to spread the word)!

I guess I’ve always taken that idea for granted.  Afterall, isn’t that our job as educators?  Of course, I’ve been blessed with rose-colored glasses and the opportunity to grow up here and only know the feeling of teachers who care and classmates who are kind.  I never had to worry about whether my teacher would notice the good things I was doing and help me work through the difficult things.  But, that’s Zion.

Our mission at Zion is to “Feed My Lambs” through the teaching of Christian faith and guidance in the Christian life for personal growth and development.  Zion has always focused on the whole student, not just the academics and standards that now go with it.  With God as our guide, we are able to dive in deep, and unapologetically with each student, giving them the tools to be successful in life, not just school.

As we get geared up for next year, I encourage you to keep us in mind and check us out on January 10th.
  • If you have a little one who is ready to take that first big step into preschool…check us out!
  • If you have a student ready to take that next big step into kindergarten…check us out!
  • If you find yourself wondering about your student’s current placement and whether their may be a better fit…check us out!
  • If you know of someone who may fall into any of these above categories…encourage them to check us out!

All it takes is a visit.  Give us an hour of your time on the 10th.  Come and see what Zion is all about!
