5 Reasons to Get Excited About Next Year:  Reason #3

I know what you're thinking..."Leah, school hasn't even ended and you're already talking about next year?"  Summer is right around the corner, and while every one of you may be looking forward to lazy days on the lake, bbqs in the backyard, or going on a family vacation, Zion will be hard at work.  A lot of great things are happening at Zion this summer and pretty cool changes are happening as well.  Changes that should make Zion better than ever.  In this recurring Blog series, we take a look at 5 reasons to get excited about next year.

Reason #3: Activities and Athletics

If ever there was a day to highlight Zion's activity and athletic opportunities, it would be Play Day!  It's that glorious time of year when Zion gets together with St. John's - NYA and Emanuel - Hamburg for some good, ol' fashioned fun and competition.  But Play Day, in the grand scheme of things, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Did you know that Zion offers music?  Every student at Zion is involved in music,  Our music program is full of fun age-appropriate activities for every student level.  Whether we are introducing our kindergartners to the world that is music, putting our elementary students behind the ukulele, or coming together on Sundays as a choir to sing during church services there are all sorts of musical activities that are happening under Mrs. Moen tutelage, what's not to love.  Plus there is the added bonus of having the band director from LHS give students lessons once a week throughout the school year.  You pick the intrument!

Did you know that Zion offers art?  Of course, when I say art, I'm not talking about "Take out your marker box and draw me a picture" art.  We're talking sculptures, photography, computer-aided designs, plus tons of projects that teach the kids how to use different artistic methods and supplies like water colors, acrylics, print-making, charcoal, and so much more.  Mrs. Morschen covers the hallways with beautiful art projects from the kids with more popping up all the time.

Did you know that Zion offers sports?  Not only does Zion offer the opportunity for many of the students to take part in sports, but we are also pretty darn good at them as well.  This past year our boys and girls saw success on the court and sometimes even surprised themselves with how good they could be, going to State in basketball.  Add to that the opportunity to team up with other area schools and participate through the Knights Program at LHS, the sky is the limit when it comes to the activities your students can enjoy at Zion.

So there you have it.  I'm exhausted just thinking of all the hard work and dedication or teachers have to all of Zion's students and the amount of time and effort it takes to do these things - all for the sake of our kids and making sure they have the best opportunities available to them.  I can't wait for next year, when the hill will be alive with activity (much like today), the halls will be full of joyful noise, and the walls and counters will be covered in all sorts of art.
