I know what you're thinking..."Leah, school hasn't even ended and you're already talking about next year?" Summer is right around the corner, and while every one of you may be looking forward to lazy days on the lake, bbqs in the backyard, or going on a family vacation, Zion will be hard at work. A lot of great things are happening at Zion this summer and pretty cool changes are happening as well. Changes that should make Zion better than ever. In this recurring Blog series, we take a look at 5 reasons to get excited about next year.
Reason #2 - That Family-Friendly Feel
The above photo was not staged in any way. The students were not coached or told to create this picture of ZIon...it just sorta happens...daily.
I heard it explained to me once like this. Zion is what it would look like if all of your favorite cousins went to school at the same place. Truer words have never been said, and this might be my absolute favorite thing about Zion. The "little" kids look up to the "big" kids in the same way one would look up to a super cool older cousin. Classmates stick together just like your ride-or-die at all of the extended family functions. The big kids make the "little" kids feel like a million bucks with every piggy-back ride down the hill, push on the swings, high-five in the hallway, and hand held when they're a little nervous.
Zion does things a little bit different than a lot of schools and embraces our small, close knit family. This family-friendly feel is really a product of our small class sizes and our mission and it shows. Our small class sizes allow us to do unique things within our classroom settings and allow for fun activities like chapel families and family lunch where the whole group sits together as one big family. It is something that is truly unique to Zion and one the best things about being apart of this place!
